Get to Know Me
I am a compassionate, down to earth trauma-informed somatic therapist, coach and therapeutic yoga teacher. I work from the understanding that our thoughts and emotions are connected with our body and our body’s sensations. I graduated with my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health with a concentration in Somatic (body) Psychotherapy from Naropa University after decades of working in leadership roles in both Corporate America and the fitness industry. Â
In body psychotherapy the belief is that our thoughts and emotions are connected to our body and our body sensations. I use a combination of traditional/talk therapy along with integration of Neurobiology and mindfulness skill-building to increase self-awareness, and access your individual healing tools.Â
In a supportive, therapeutic alliance to facilitate body awareness, I often use grounding techniques, conscious breathing techniques along with mindful movement practices to help you draw on the intelligence of your body and assist in emotion regulation. I also integrate Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to unearth your intrinsic motivation to change along with the evidenced-based strategies of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); encouraging awareness of Self while honoring your unique personal expression of healing, personal growth and change.Â
I work through an attachment theory lens, and consider myself a behaviorist. I use knowledge of Polyvagal theory, Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Hakomi Method and Sensorimotor Processing as well in interventions.Â
I am originally from the east coast. Along with being a therapist, coach and therapeutic yoga teacher, I am also a mother of two teenage boys and a joy-filled golden retriever. I love to laugh, read, dance, hike, soak in the hot springs, snowboard and learn new things.
